Starts runs drives stops awesome, super fun, sounds amazing, should pass California smog just fine, no rust, no major body damage, All spare & stock/original parts included. Very peppy- drives fine as is but pass CV (I believe) will need to be replaced at some point. Wheels need to be balanced also the ride is not smooth like it was prior to this wheel/tire setup.
This is an extra/project car that I sadly must sell due to life circumstances. I am not desperate to sell it but I am putting a feeler out because I know these are getting harder to find and I'd like to make a deal with the right appreciative enthusiast with no BS.

I will throw in a running driving 1997 Jetta GLS 2.0 5 speed w/ 178k on it for the right price- I'd prefer both mk3s go together- the Jetta isn't really a bargaining tool if you want just the GTI. Serious Only Please.

The Jetta is all stock, completely stock and only missing the center console rear cupholder cover- anything else I've replaced with OEM with a few exceptions- clamshell is two different parts, top nland bottom so it's taped together for now, shift boot and knob Are from a mk4 and not the most perfect but function okay
The previous owners had the car for about ten years and took pretty good care of it. Sadly in 2018 they let it sit so it accrued back fees which are $661 if registered in California of course will also need a smog. Check engine light for o2 sensor and Speed Sensor (p0422 & p0501) driving isn't impacted and I have not looked into it at all. When in neutral the trans area make a sound which could be throwing bearing. Shifts just fine
The pink slip is signed and dated but the back is not filled out by me or anyone. The title is clean. Stock everything as I mentioned down to the Orlando wheels. The roof rack is not available it has been sold.
There's a crack horizontally on the windshield, drivers glass headlight has a crack (doesn't fall apart or anything, just cosmetic).. overall the car is very clean for a mk3 I've owned many of this era- there is only a few dings and that is it. Trunk carpet is missing but I have a spare one I can include- trunk seems to leak water into it. I tried the AC the other day it functions but not cold so that will need a recharge. Has a USB charger plug built in, CD player that works, decent speakers. Heater works- heater core doesn't leak. No Major or serious leaks. All power windows works except passenger front and driver's back- switches work for it and I can hear the motor working but the glass appears to be stuck or off the track. The windshield wipers work but the motor is loud when being used.
The Jetta shines up nice. Interior is mostly complete and overall clean but could use a detail to be perfect Drivers side backseat has a small orange spot, drivers floor carpet has a hole worn thru from the drivers heel but I've placed a floormat over it. The roof has some oxidation, a couple door handles are faded from the sun. There is a light on the dash for trunk being open when it is actually closed. Door locks work manually, I have not got sunroof to work but it doesn't leak, I haven't checked any fuses. Good tires. Clean title.
